How to Start an Insurance Claim for a Roof or Siding

People are calling asking us how to go about making that insurance claim for their roof or siding that has been damaged in a storm. So here are the steps you need to take.

1. Call the claims department of your insurance company and let them know you believe that you may have some storm damage. They will ask when the damage occurred and what type of damage.
2. They insurance company will send out an adjuster to asses the damage to your home. They will then write up a scope of work so you will know how much the insurance company will pay for the work that needs to be done.
3. You will then need to call roofers or siders to come out and give you an estimate on what they will charge to do the work. It is also good to tell the roofing/siding company that this is an insurance claim.
4. Once you choose the company you want to work with, they should be able to handle the insurance side of things from here on out. The insurance company will send you the checks to give to the roofing/siding company but other than that, they should be able to handle it for you.

Hail Damage

So we all know that Hunter's Choice Roofing and Siding can help an older roof become a great roof once again, but what if you have a new roof? What can we do for you? Well, storms do not discriminate. They will dump hail on old and new roofs and can create damage to both. You can't see hail damage from the ground so a roofer and/or your insurance adjuster will need to get on your roof to inspect to see if you do in fact have hail damage.

What hail actually does is it loosens granules when it hits your roof and that then creates what is called a bruise and that will expose the matting which in turn will deteriorate and cause leaks in the roof. As I stated before, you need a professional roofer and/or your insurance adjuster to be on the roof to inspect this. It cannot be seen from the ground.

We also get the question, "Do you accept insurance claims?". The answer is yes. We do work for people who have insurance claims or people who are paying for the entire roof themselves. Last weekend Hunter's Choice Roofing and Siding supported Relay for Life here in Canal Fulton. We count it an honor to support such a cause. We remember the ones who lost the fight to cancer but celebrate with the ones who have won that fight and are cancer free. We stand alongside the survivors, families and friends and fight with them to find a cure. Just like them, we will not stop until there is a cure!

NJBSL Cardinals

NJBSL Cardinals had a great baseball season and Hunter's Choice Roofing and Siding was their sponsor. All the boys did a great job this year and the coaches were wonderful!

It's always fun to watch a child succeed. If it be that first fly ball they catch or their first hit or home run. It is just amazing to see how proud they are of themselves. We at Hunter's Choice Roofing and Siding are so glad to be a part of those successes; those proud first in those boys lives that they will never forget. They worked hard all season long, even in the crazy northeast Ohio weather we have had.
